Migration Registration in Russia for International Students 2026–2027

A simple guide to migration registration in Russia: what international students should do after arrival, when changing accommodation, and after re-entering the country.

News update

Migration Registration: One of Your First Steps After Arrival

After entering Russia, international students may need to complete migration registration for their place of stay.

This is separate from university enrollment and from your student visa.

The exact procedure depends on your nationality, immigration status, and where you live.

What Should You Do After Arrival?

Once you arrive:

  • Inform the SOLKAF team that you have entered Russia.

  • Go to your confirmed accommodation.

  • Keep your passport, visa if applicable, and entry or migration documents safe.

  • Follow the registration instructions for your accommodation and university.

  • Keep confirmation of your registration when it is provided.

If you live in a university dormitory, the university or dormitory administration may handle part of the process.

If you live in a private apartment, hotel, or another place, the procedure may be different.

Changing Your Address

Migration registration is connected to your place of stay.

If you move from a dormitory to an apartment, from a hotel to a dormitory, or to another address, do not assume that your previous registration is still sufficient.

Inform SOLKAF and check what needs to be updated.

Leaving Russia and Returning

After travelling outside Russia and entering again, your migration documents or registration may need to be updated.

Do not rely automatically on your previous registration after a new entry.

Documents to Keep Safe

Keep copies of:

  • Passport

  • Student visa, if applicable

  • Migration or entry documents

  • Migration registration

  • Accommodation documents

Common Mistakes

Avoid:

  • Ignoring migration registration after arrival

  • Assuming university enrollment completes it automatically

  • Changing accommodation without checking your registration

  • Losing migration documents

  • Following another student's situation without checking your own

  • Waiting until a document is close to expiry

How SOLKAF Can Help

SOLKAF can help you understand what to do after arrival, inform the university of your arrival, and guide you when changing accommodation or returning to Russia after travel.

Official registration is handled by the competent authorities and authorized parties.

Important for 2026–2027

Migration procedures and digital services for foreign students can change.

Always check the current requirements for your nationality, accommodation, university, and immigration status.

Simple rule:
Arrive → Inform SOLKAF → Complete your registration → Keep your documents → Inform us if your address or entry status changes.
